What are your age requirements for renting in South Africa?


Anyone under the age of 23 is disqualified from renting a car in South Africa. The preferred age to rent is 25, however, you may rent a car at some locations  if you’re between the ages of 23-25 for an additional young renter surcharge. Check the policies at the car rental location you’re interested in renting from for specific renter requirements.

 

Renting a Car Under 25

The minimum age to rent a vehicle with Enterprise is 23 throughout South Africa.  

Renters under the age of 25 will be required to pay “Young Driver Fees” which are determined based on your rental location.

 

What Do I Need to Rent a Car Under 25?

Here are some of the things you’ll need to rent a car from Enterprise if you’re under 25:

       - To be at least 23 years old

       - Have a valid driver’s licence with a photo

       - A valid debit or credit card. Some Enterprise locations may require a credit card.

       - Renters between 23 and 25 may be restricted to specific car classes. Please see exceptions below. Learn more about how to rent a car.

 

Car Rental Options for Under 25s

At most locations, young renters between the ages of 23-25 may rent the following vehicle classes: Mini, Mini Auto and SUV.
